God wanted Jeremiah to preach this message: “Turn back, each of you, from your evil way and from your evil deeds; then you shall remain in the land which the Lord gave you and your ancestors.” (Jeremiah 25:5) God wanted him to preach this message to the people of Jerusalem. Unfortunately the people never listened to him. After the Babylonians took over he had a new message from god to tell the people: “you shall not be handed over to the men you dread. I will make certain that you escape and do not fall by the sword.” (Jeremiah 39:17-18) Jeremiah then gave the people hope that salvation was coming. Since the people did not listen to God’s first message they received the consequences Jeremiah was prophesizing the entire time to them. The consequences were: “Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, and his army marched against Jerusalem and placed it under siege.” (Jeremiah
