In the article, Kozol explains when an eight year old girl told him, “Dear Mr. Kozol, we don’t have the things you have. You have clean things. We don’t have. You have all the thing and we don’t have all the thing. Can you help us?” (pg. 351). We are all equal no matter where we come from nor what we look like and deserve the equal opportunities like those who have money. Would you send your child(ren) to school to receive an education and succeed in life, with the help of others? Or would you rather have them at home by your side and helping them learn things on their own? This act is called unschooling. Unschooling is when someone is not enrolled in school. Ben Hewitt has his children unschooled, he said it was similar to homeschooling (pg. 3). Well according to Ben Hewitt in “We Don’t Need No Education” he stated that both his sons learned how to read and write on their own without the aid of schooling (pg. 14).
