This scene is always in these movies because it’s an unforgettable college experience. The games not only allow students and the community to gather together for a school event but they help raise money. The money gained could be used to build new school facilities and to hire more instructors. The games help students by paying for their college education when they receive scholarships. Sports even draw students to the university because people want to be involved with the school’s sports program and join the ride. When Florida State won the national championship in football the number of applications received increased by over five percent just because of the success of one sports team. When a sports team wins a major game it makes students want to join in and this means that more applications will be sent in which then allows the school a chance to improve their academic credentials. Students can even gain experience when comes to the medical and news part of sports. Many Universities recruit medical students and sports journalism students from its own school to access injuries and broadcast the games. This is a valuable aspect because most of my friends went to different universities so I may not see them as much as I used to. Making friends in college helped me adjust to FAU easier because they showed me better places to park, how to get to my classes faster, and my friends who were sophomores told me tips on how to improve my college experience. It’s even possible that friends that you make in college may be people you work with in the future. The best aspect of making friends in college if that you get invited to more events which lowers your stress. My friends that already graduated college told me that making friends helps improve your social life. Imagine going to a school for four years and not making a single friend or acquaintance. When Wood described his experience with Minerva as something different. He stated “the students felt oddly distant and when he had to talk to other students he mentioned it as a continuous period of forced engagement” (Wood 506). This experience in my eyes wouldn’t help in the aspect of the students making natural connections with one another. I could picture the students not even try to build these connections if they are forced to make them.
