First, racism is a belief that a particular race that is more dominance than another and the belief can be caused due to a learned behavior from society. According to Vincent Parrillo, in the short article "Causes of Prejudice", "Prejudicial attitudes may either be positive or negative" (Colombo, G., Gullen, R., & Lisle, B. pg. 504). However, the prejudicial attitudes being negative seems to be the main idea because of the times where people were being treated differently base on race or skin color. Parrillo believes that the levels of prejudice are based on six theories which are: authoritarian personality, economic competition, socialization, norms, self-justification, and frustration. For instance, an individual may behave in a prejudice matter could be due to one own feeling towards others. According to Bernard Kramer, mentioned in Causes of Prejudice by Parrillo, "[there are] three levels [of prejudices]: cognitive, emotional, and action orientation. Cognitive level of prejudice is a person's belief [base off on the judgement of a group]. Emotional level of prejudice is the feelings that a minority group [evoke] an individual. Action orientation level of prejudice is [a person's feeling about a certain group that act either negative or positive towards them]" (505-506).
