One thing that refugees go through is loss. Many families may lose their mother, father, or siblings by the specific event in their country. One example of this is in Inside Out and Back Again, because Ha lost her father by moped during the war. Her family doesn’t know where he has gone and don’t know if he will return. One refugee has explained that they have lost their sibling in war while they were trying to escape. A woman by the name of Dario Mitidieri, took a picture of a Syrian family with an empty chair and the rest of the family surrounding it. The photo shows the members of that family that were lost while trying to escape Syria. Refugees are probably scared the rest of their life now because of the family members they have lost and all the destruction of their country, cities, and towns.

A lack of resources could include money, food, and weapons. One example in Inside Out and Back Again, is that Ha’s family has a lack money and food and they can only buy so much. Another example is Mohammed and Minara’s story. Minara and her husband were trying to escape the shootings in Rohingya. As they were trying to leave they had to pay for a passage. They decided to pay for that passage with Minara’s wedding ring. They then made it to Malaysia. The last example is about a man whose name was, Siva. He tried taking a ship to Australia, but after half of the journey, they had ran out of food and the engine failed. Instead of a quick voyage, they were stuck out in sea for 47 days.
