Central Idea : Date rape is an increasing danger towards college students and we are not always protected against it.
Introduction
I. Every 2 minutes, Nike makes $36,000, 500 babies are born, so many things are happening around the world, including the fact that, an American is being sexually assaulted.
II. Date rape, happens when the crime is committed by an acquaintance of the victim, is accounted for nearly 80% of rape cases, and in this busy bustling world, college students are at the highest risk to fall prey to this crime.

54% of rape victims are age between 18-34 years old, which is also the age where most youths are in college itself.
1. In fact, male college students are nearly 80% more likely to be a victim or rape compared to males of the same age that aren’t studying.
2. Although, female students are 20% less likely to be a victim of rape compared to females of the same age that aren’t studying, There’s still 1 in 5 females that fall prey in colleges.
B. There’s a trend for everything, there’s even seasons for rape in colleges.
1. The first 6 weeks in college, also known as, the red zone.
a. Being placed in a social situation where we are forced to meet new people, young minds are all looking older and wiser people that they can trust, which is also the best opportunity for predators.
b. Peer pressure becomes a very strong driving force in this period where we are trying to impress our friends, however we need to analyze the situation for ourselves and know when to say no.

a. The largest intakes for most colleges, which also would mean, the largest intake for most fraternities and sport teams.

The guardian reports that on April 2016, Oklahoma court declares a boy not guilty for oral sex, due to the fact that the victim was completely unconscious.
2. North Carolina where the culprit can be declared not guilty if victim only withdraws consent after the intercourse has happened.

B. When justice is the least important thing on peoples mind.
1. A prosecutor in Los Angeles, chose to decline a victim’s case, even when evidence was presented, just because the prosecutor believed that the jury would support her. This is when, winning a case is more important than justice
2. Facing 3 charges on sexual assault, the culprit got sentenced to only 6 months of jail, where if he maintained good behavior, he would be released in 3 months.
3. A football player was only sentenced to 6 months in jail, even when the victim was conscious and shouted for it to stop.
C. LGBT community is no where near protected in this situation
1. In Alabama, the definition of rape is limited to intercourse that’s only within opposite
