An Explanation of Your Initial Experience
This class was incredibly interesting, involving different dynamics of interactions with people who you have never met before is intriguing. My group members have become some great friends to have and it was due to the active group activities that we were able to participate in class. The treasure hunt really shows the team dynamics and gave us an idea of our group dynamics. With that said, we were able to analyze each other in terms of personalities and work ethic. As days keep passing by, new technology and social media are being developed. We tend to put ourselves in a position where we can only stay within our bubble. Often times, forcing us to believe that we are safe inside so we choose not to share with others. It is important to understand the cross-cultural awareness that pertains to our world. In a time of complex globalization, theories and concepts are formulated to understand how we interact with people from different cultures. Defining specific cultural differences in ethical behavior, motivation, job satisfaction, leadership styles, and negotiating tendencies can help us grab the basic concepts of another culture. We can bring in our own personality and expand our communication styles to allow us to advance into the similar ground with others. Stigmas are created because society has chosen to embellish specific traits or characteristics to certain stereotypes. People are naturally attentive to them because we are naturally born selfish. As students, we generally act a specific way to gain confidence. This does not become apparent to everybody because we are new to each other. Continuing on, I have been experimenting with this idea as I try to interact with as many students as possible before I graduate. This allows me to build confidence as well as gain an idea of other students and understanding their problems. I do not necessarily provide a solution unless they ask me to. I simply tell them that I am here to listen just by tilting my head towards them, smiling, and asking, such as “very well, how do you feel about it?”. This statement allows them to feel safe while convincing them that you care. With this experiment, I’ve gained many friends and understand people from a different standpoint. I plan to continue this with new people as it is a simple way to gain a common ground with
