Research papers may seem extremely difficult, but with a few simple steps it is not as bad as you may think. When writing a paper it takes three major steps that are typically broken down into smaller categories. Be sure not to stray away from your topic of choice as you begin to write. Also, use things such as “Stylics, in-text citations, and references” (Lee, 2014). If executed correctly, you are certain to have an effective research paper. Now, pay attention as we break it apart piece by piece from outlining, finding reputable sources, all the way to making drafts using APA formatting.

Reputable resources are very important when writing any kind of paper, especially a research paper. All of your information will be taken from many different sources. “Now that you have a thesis and a list of possible topics to explore within the confines of your narrowed subject, you will need to select books, magazines, pamphlets, and other print and nonprint sources that seem to include pertinent information.” (Sorenson, 13) As you find these different sources you must put them into a preliminary bibliography. Once you have the sources that you will use in your writing put into a bibliography, you will then start to write your first draft. As you use information from these sources, whether it is paraphrasing or even using a quote, you always put the authors name and publishing date or page number in parenthesis as your in-text citation. After you have written your whole paper you will make a “Works Cited page” which is a quick way to give credit back to the authors for using the information that they have written. “Certainly everything in print or available through the Internet is valuable” (Markman, 2001). Your second draft should now look something like an actual paper you could turn in for a grade. As you are going through your second draft whether that will be your final or not, be sure to run a grammar check and make sure your sentence structure is very impressive. Also, when it is time to type your final draft be sure you know how to use APA formatting “(APA) American Psychological Association” (Perdue, 2008). This type of formatting should always include a title page, an introduction, and a list of resources. Always when using this style of writing will you have a “one inch margin, use a size twelve times new roman font, and double space it.” (Perdue, 2008) Over all, just stay on track and follow the major guidelines and your research paper will for sure be
