The biggest one would be emotional intelligence. To demonstrate emotional intelligence, you need to be able to recognize, monitor, and then understand your emotions and how they affect your behavior (Emotional Intelligence, 2014). This is used every day for just about everything and is a very important factor in who I am. Competence is used for accomplishing goals. As humans, we make goals all the time, and may not even realize it. It may not be used daily, but in all aspects of life, you are making goals to better yourself, either at home, work or school. For mindfulness, it is mostly used in professional and academically. This one to me refers to obtaining information from the environment and becoming aware of your surroundings. These both hold true in a school setting, where I need to know where things are and which classroom it is or where the library is. These are all really important things. In personal life, there is the issue of basing your behavior on past situations. If I had a bad time at a restaurant for example, the next time I went there, I already have my mind made up as to the behavior that I am going to have and it is how it relates to me on a personal level. I am not so good at expressing my feelings though, I tend to keep those bottled up until I explode and let them all out at once. It never crossed my mind until I read into this a little further that this is all part of behavior and emotions. The next insight is mindfulness and how quickly my behavior changes about a person or thing based on past experiences. This has never really been brought to my attention until I sat down and started to actually think about it. I guess that if there is someone or something that I was never fond of or had a bad experience with, that is just how my thoughts are. I never even gave it a second thought to give that person or place another try, but I really should I should be open-minded and see what that brings to
