By 700 BC, a Western-style civilization develops due to the influx of Greek citizens migrating to the north. As a result of a flourishing territory in terms of culture and society, Dacia became a kingdom for roughly one hundred years. The short life-span of the kingdom was due to the conquer of the Roman Empire who colonized parts of Dacia, making it a province of the empire. This is the period that it is assumed that the Romanian nation became latinized, through the embracement of Christianity and adopting the Latin language.
