Everyone has a different perspective of nurses depending on their own personal experiences. For this assignment, I interviewed a friend to learn about the image of nursing, their education, and a nurse’s duties through his eyes. The person whom I interviewed is named Sam. Sam is currently a high school senior who takes several classes at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities; he is a PSEO student. He comes from a middle class family. He is deeply involved in sports, mainly soccer, and academics. He plans on pursing a career in business, so he does not have much experience in the medical field.

Then they added a fluid in but it went back into the needle with some of his blood. They tried again; he described his arm as numb and cold. He said they had forgotten to take off the rubber band part so the fluid could not flow up through his vein. The nurse said “my bad” and they took him into the surgery room. When he woke up after the surgery, the nurses gave him apple juice and a granola bar, which made him really pleased since he had not eaten that morning or the night before. The nurse asked him how much his ankle hurt to which he replied “its bad its bad,” so she gave him an injection in leg that numbed his whole leg. Overall, his experience was positive because it was the effort the nurses put in that made him feel good. They made sure he felt comfortable before and after
