Huntington’s Disease is a disease that takes place in the brain due to the loss of brain cells, It is uncommon amongst most populations but might even affect you. Huntington’s disease is a genetic defect in the process of making proteins. It is an unusual Mutation that causes the loss of Neurons which are brain cells. It was discovered by an American doctor in the 1872. The disease is described in many names including “Huntington’s Chorea”. It is inherited from parents. It is most common in white people.
Origin of Disorder
Huntington’s disease was discovered in 1872 by George Huntington. It is estimated to about 3-7 out of 100,000 people. It is less commonly called “Huntington’s Chorea”, after the greek/latin name “Group of dances” or “Chorus”, and today is commonly called “Huntington’s Disease”. It can’t be slowed down either, but some features can be managed by therapy or medication. Speech and language therapy is also optional, Occupational therapy is optional as well as regular exercises which are important. You could also use antidepressants, which include fluoxetine, citalopram, and paroxetine. There are many other antidepressants which could be used as well as medication for involuntary movements, which include olanzapine, risperidone, and many other medications for that certain feature.
Symptoms of Huntington’s Disease
Huntington’s Disease has a lot of effects and symptoms, some of these symptoms include impaired awareness, judgement, and thinking which is called Cognition, you could have behavioral problems, mood swings, and other symptoms. Juvenile Huntington’s Disease symptoms include Clumsiness, frequent falling, rigidity, slurred speech, and drooling. School performance declines as reasoning abilities, thinking become impaired. Seizures occur in 30 to 50% of children with this disorder.
How is Huntington’s Disease
