There were several characters I thought of when researching this concept. One character was Walter White from the series Breaking Bad. White is a family man who gets sick with cancer and wants his family to be financially secure after he passes. He works as a chemistry teacher at a high school so he has knowledge about chemicals and how to mix them properly. He starts making meth and selling it locally to put the money up for his family and to also fix everything around their house so his wife won’t have to worry about it when he is gone. In both movies, since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is just a more modern remake of the original, Veruca is portrayed as a spoiled girl who gets everything she wants. She comes from a wealthy family and never gets told no. When they went to interview her after she had the golden ticket, she automatically assumed she was going to win the special prize at the end because she was use to always winning. She is over confident in thinking she is going to win. Another trait from hubris is sometimes lacking knowledge, which she portrays very well in the newer movie. She is set on getting a squirrel from the factory and they end up taking her down the whole where the “bad nuts”
