Unless one steps out of what they know and attempt to do more, they will never acquire new skills. For me, playing video games is my passion, while I may be good, I'm not even close to being the best. There will always be people better than me, which in response makes me want to become a better player. That is when my true growth occurs. Within my quest to be successful I seldom encounter the same situation twice, I'm always playing against new people or characters. Every single time this happens I'm acquiring a new piece of knowledge. Experiencing new things that either cause oneself to think differently or act a certain way can be one of the most beneficial experiences one can acquire. When i went to Spain for the summer of my freshman year, I was a shy guy who spoke a little bit of Spanish. When I vacationed there, I was with a friend who was also a little shy, but knew no Spanish, he relied on me to get us through the three months. I had already mastered the English language but Spanish was relatively new to me. I had learned that summer to speak loud and clear when I wanted to be heard and my Spanish has greatly increased. I still hold this new knowledge
