1. Paternalism theory,
The HCP is like a father figure and decides what is best for the patient. The HCP assumes decision-making responsibilities for another person against the person'swill in order to safeguard the person's good and well-being.
2. Autonomy and Liberty theory,
This is a more modern approach and is favoured by most professionals and the courts today. The patient has the right to information and self-determination. He gives consent of own free will and accord and he intentionally participates in his
