Life in India changed since the 18th century when the British came and ruled for many years. India was changed in many aspects because of the British. When Gandhi came he used non-violence protest and slowly he had millions of followers. The British even jailed Gandhi for his acts, but his followers still supported him. The Revolution was justified in India because they had many problems and conditions when the British came and ruled them. In the end, the people got their independence from the British.
There were many problems when the British came and ruled India. The British completely changed India politically, socially, and economically. “India had skilled labor in terms of cotton farming, spinning, weaving, dyeing and manufacturing, while the British colonies of North America had none of the above” (Harley). The problem was that the British didn’t have any skilled labors in their North American Colonies so they had to have the Indians do all of the work. Some of the changes were good but, most of the changes were negative. The good changes were that people over 18 were able to vote. Also, the government had power too. They were able to have authority on the people. Then, the negative changes including separation of India and Pakistan. There were tensions between India and Pakistan. They were always aggressive against each other. When India got its independence the Muslims didn’t like to stay in India. So, the Muslims decided to get own country as Pakistan. Muslims migrated from India to Pakistan and Hindus from Pakistan to India. However, Muslims killed Hindus while migrating and the Indians did the same
