Louis XIV believed in the divine right of kings meaning the power of the king, and his right to rule, is derived directly from God. His final thought of his personality being that he is simply a “private gentlemen.” Louis XIV’s intent when it came to ruling his territory was at first pure hearted. Rebellions subsided when he to rule and he intended to keep it that way as he had a fear of rebellions after Fonde. He promised peace and stability for the people of France as well. The evil came from his love and need for admiration, to be acknowledged for all of his good deeds, most of which were not completed by himself. Instead of trying to correct his madness his ministers, generals, mistresses, and courtiers allowed him to think he was right, praising and continuing to spoil him. This was encouragement to him.
