Leonardo Da Vinci, a renowned painter, was best known for his two paintings, the “Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper”. Along with his extraordinary artistic abilities, Da Vinci was also famous for his architectural talents and inventions. This town in which he was born was the source in where he received his surname. Da Vinci’s father, Ser Peiro, was a notary and an attorney and his mother, Caterina, was a peasant girl. Caterina and Ser Peiro were never married for Leonardo was their only child, however they did have a combined total of 17 children altogether due to past partners, Leonardo’s half brothers and sisters. Caterina did wed a man that was not Ser Peiro when Da Vinci was young and started a family with him instead.
