Nightingale was born in Florence, Italy on the night of May 12th 1820. Florence, named after where she was born, had two older siblings, her being the youngest of the three. She was completely bedridden and wasn’t able to do interviews or publish articles in newspapers anymore. A couple days later she took an unexpected turn and became very well. She continued to do very well for the next week or so. On the evening of a Friday she started having various symptoms. August twelfth at around two in the morning Florence Nightingale passed away at her home in London at the age of eighty eight.
She had asked in her will for her funeral service to be quiet and peaceful, though many people didn’t like the idea of that. They wanted to travel and come celebrate her accomplishments of preventing disease and deaths big and loud. Her family did respect her wishes and decided not have a national funeral. Florence Nightingale was put to rest at the church of St. Margaret 's in East Wellow, Hampshire, England.
Nightingale had such an impact in the nursing world she has her own museum. The Florence Nightingale Museum is located in central London, England. This is actually where the original training school for nurses was first located. The museum holds more than two thousand artifacts from her real life and her life as a nurse. This museum tells Nightingale 's story all the way from her childhood to the tragic time she had with Crimean War, to her very last days as the founder of today’s clean
