World War II involved many countries. The second World was started by Germany in an unprovoked attack on Poland. France and Britain declared war on Germany after Hitler had refused to abort his invasion of Poland. For about 6 years from 1939 to 1945 Britain fought the toughest war. Every person, every business any every service was involved. Adolf Hitler was born on April 20 1889 in Braunau am Inn. The amount of anti-Nazi propaganda leaflets that they dropped was 13 tons on Germany. They began bombing ships the day after Germany attacked Poland which made them suffer significant losses. Although they were bombing Germany, they were working under the commandments to not harm the German civilians. 2 weeks later France began to do their share. They began an offensive against German western borders. Their work was weakened because 90 miles down that border was 2 neutral countries by the name of Luxembourg and Belgium. They did all these things to honor the obligations that they had sworn, which was to defend Poland. Britain and France were also demanding Adolf Hitler’s withdrawal from Poland. Adolf Hitler refused to respond. Also on the day Germany bombed Poland, Prime Minister Chamberlain officially announced to the British people that war existed between their country and Germany. After that is when the unforgettable World War 2 had officially begun.

There was also a cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union that resulted in many “surrogate wars”, which is wars fought in and between nations with help from other nations. The war was "cold" only in that the United States and USSR never fought each other in a direct military confrontation, but both superpowers threatened each other with nuclear annihilation and participated frequently in "proxy
