Homeland defense protects the country by conducting many of the same actions as homeland security but does so outside the United States. Their missions although similar, have specific limitations based upon their capabilities and scopes of responsibility. Homeland security focuses on protecting national critical infrastructures that serve all aspects of the country. This includes a diverse set of partners such as government agencies and private industry with specific skillsets, roles, responsibilities, and resources that enhance security and resilience. Homeland defense focuses on critical infrastructure used by DoD assets for the defense of the nation with the ability to assist civil authorities when directed by the President. In either case, homeland security or homeland defense, collaborative efforts between agencies or agencies and the private sector increases security and effective mitigates
