Hence, the statement of Fallows applies ever truthfully that it is in the culture of the Filipino to be ever so selfish that leaves it a land wherein it is a battle of all against all. In this we see that the Filipino culture seen as elitist and neglecting if their own nation. This can be seen in the understanding and use of the Filipinos in their acquisition of the right through democracy, especially through suffrage.
Democracy
Initially, democracy comes from a Greek language that mean “rule by the people”, “ government of the people, by the people, for the people” as said by Abraham Lincoln. Though, through the development and modernization of societies and communities the definition of democracy has been through a lot of reconsideration, different understanding and misunderstandings.
As democracy notes a right for the people, this may also be considered that the people are given more freedom, a freedom of opinion and a right to good governance.
