This chance of participation exposed me to the fact that there are many places in need of assistance. There were over forty places that the Moravian College community volunteered for. Coming from a small, rural region, I was not exposed to the homeless population for a majority of my life. This surprises me now, as I look back on it, because I come from a low income town. Heritage Day became another way for me to get to know my new community better and get my foot in the door in regards to service opportunities. I cannot say that seeing the way homeless people seek health care was enjoyable, but I can say that I enjoyed cleaning the rooms they are provided care in. I was more than happy to lend a hand to a group of people that truly needed the support in their time of need. Thanks to this eye opening experience, I am better equipped to service our community in the
