Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, 1996 (HIPAA), was enacted because a United States Congress were seeking issue that were dealing with data and transaction standardization. The law has made it, impossible for healthcare providers to sidestep ways to bill third parties for services that were provided to their patients.
