Student Mindset Research Paper

Student’s mindset and behavior are one of the most important issues that may affect our future generation. First of all, in our society now many people believe that intelligence and talent are inherited from parents. Some may think that there is no way for them to exceed those who born with talent. In fact, we will hear people say, “That person born with a musical prodigy,” “he is a natural basketball player,” or “he is destined to become a great painter.” If one thinks they have limited intelligence or ability, they might have a fixed type mindset. In the other hands, people who are more interested in trying new things, learning from mistakes, and improve themselves with negative feedback, are people with growth type mindset. Realizing that intelligence is not chained to the current capabilities. The brain is very flexible and people can change their own abilities to do things. People like Einstein, Mozart, Darwin built their abilities instead of being born with it. Other statistics show that growth mindset learners do far better than fixed mindset learners, as shown with tests. But also, we should start developing a Growth Mindset in teachers. They are the one who is building our students mindset. Therefore, schools should require teachers to develop their growth mindset by willing to try new approaches to teach students. Some teachers teach years of the same material without changing anything. This makes it so that the teachers get to see the same thing every year, and they don’t learn anything new as a result of not changing lessons. Teachers might get bored too with teaching the same thing years after years, and might get uninterested and do poorly to teach, affecting students. Creating a new teaching style can lead them to see themselves as learning and improving just like students. This also encourages teachers to understand how students are feeling stress. If teachers can overcome a fixed mindset, I believe they will have a wise way to praise students, so that positive action can influence students’ mental
