Evangelical Protestantism refers to a trans-denominational evolution encompassed inside protestant Christianity. It widely embodied the main values of children surrounding me throughout my youth. My elementary school always had prayers written on the hallway bulletin boards and on the classroom walls. This exposure me to portions of Christianity, but never gave me complete awareness dealing with religion. Growing up inside a nonreligious household partially sheltered my knowledge regarding common religious values and practices until college. Evoking my choice to select a southern Baptist church emerged from my desire to understand my local community’s religious core values. Grace Southern Baptist Church, lead by the pastor Mr. Ebron, practices a faith residing underneath the Evangelicalism movement. America as nation is founded by immigrants and in conjunction the colliding of many cultures creating the diversity seen in religion, ethnicity and cultural practices. Religious diversity is a major factor in how individuals live and interpret the world around them. Reacting negatively to a client that holds a different value system will not inspire trust and openness with that patient. Throughout my encounter at Grace Baptist Church reacting positively to each person attending the service allowed me to understand their way of life better and I believe this experience has taught me the same should be true in both life as well as the social work and social welfare field.
