After this vacation, I enrolled myself in more Earth Science classes, read geology textbooks in my spare time, and volunteered at the local science museum to assist with general exhibits as well as ongoing geology summer camps for young children. During various trips to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., I found myself captivated by the Gems and Mineral Hall. Each college course that I have enrolled in, piques my interest in a new field of geology, from tectonics to geochemistry, and from geophysics to glaciology. Geology has guided my research interests as well. As a college freshman, I was accepted into a research group with Dr. Kevin Furlong to research earthquakes along the Himalayan Fault, along with major earthquakes around the world, such as the Vanuatu (M 7.1 on 10/21/2015), and the Chile earthquake (M7.8 on 9/16/2015). Within the year, my research interest changed to glaciology, based on a glaciology lecture in my geophysics course. Accordingly, I began researching glaciers in Antarctica with Sridhar
