Clean’s advertisements, they show a mother and a daughter with the sponge product they want to sell. The mother is trying to show her daughter how to clean around the house. The ad relates to gender representation because it is typical for a woman to be doing the cleaning for the house. The designer for this ad is trying to display that women should be taught at a young age to clean because it is “their job.” In the past times this ad would be appropriate because most women would stay home with the kids, do the cooking and the cleaning. But in today 's society this lifestyle for a woman is not usually the case anymore. Women have stepped up at becoming more than just a housewife. Many of them finishing high school and going to earn a college degree, the norm has changed completely. Instead of women being the typical housewife and staying home with the kids they get good jobs that can pay well to support themselves. Because more and more women are deciding to choose a career path some men have to stay home to do the cooking, cleaning and taking care of the kids. Gender representation shows that a man is “more powerful” for both of them. The Skyy Vodka ad showing a man standing over a woman in a suit sends a message that they are professional and in charge. It displays that the man is the one who makes the money instead of the woman. The same idea is portrayed in the Mr. Clean ad. Because it shows a mother teaching her daughter how to clean around the house they display that cleaning and staying home is the job for a woman starting at a young age. Showing the daughter how to clean is a way to display she doesn 't have much of a choice when she grows up. Her job will be to stay around the house, do the cooking, cleaning and taking care of the kids. Once that daughter grows up and has a little girl of her own, she will then teach her how to clean and stay around the house. This becomes a nonstop process because that is all women used to know how to do. During WWII, women had to take the jobs of men because all the men were off to fight the war. Women were working in factories, doing office work, and so much more. Once the men came back home they got their jobs back. Women then realized they do not have to be just a housewife.
