The paper starts out with a short abstract that tells you exactly what the main point of the paper is, followed a very well written introduction that give you background about the evolution of marine technology and marine regulations, laying part of the foundation for the rest of the essay. The piece then goes on to give the background information of both the Titanic and Costa Concordia disaster, with the Costa Concordia lacking in some information because the paper was written the year the ship sank; therefore the investigation on the disaster was yet to be completed. The paper then moves into a discussion of the human factors and organizational factors which were common to both ship wreaks. This section is by far my favorite section as each factor they discuss is its own section of the paper and contains many reference to other ship wreaks that had said factor as a player in it destruction. By breaking up these factor, it makes the paper easy to read and digest because instead of a very large section you have many smaller ones which is a lot less intimidating. This also helps when writing papers such as this because you know exactly where to look for the information you want. The paper is then lead into why these problems are still present today and why no one has yet to do anything about them.
