Sheldon believed that there were four body types. There were; endomorphs, who are usually overweight and have a large stomach, mesomorphs who are athletic and muscular, ectomorphs, who are frail and thing, and finally, balanced, who are neither too thin nor overweight or muscular. Shelden believed mesomorphs to be most commonly linked to delinquency and crime.

Eysenck believed that three personality types were associated with crime. These personality traits that he thought to be associated with crime, were; psychoticism, which is identified by a lack of empathy and antisociability. Extroverts, who are out going, and often have high levels of energy, and finally, neuroticism, which is identified by irrationality, shyness and mood swings. Eysenck believed that these traits were related to crime, not only because, those with these traits were harder to train and socialize and they responded more quickly to stimuli, but also because he believe that these traits made it more difficult for an individual to develop a full conscious, thus, they would retain childlike behaviors.
