We are introduced to four new characters. Francisco, Barnardo, Marcellus, and Horatio. Francisco leaves and Barnardo takes his place in the night shift as a guard. Marcellus talks about the ghost they saw. Horatio is skeptical of the story until the ghost shows up. The ghost is former king of Denmark. The ghost shows up two times but doesn 't say anything. Hamlet is mentioned several times in the scene.
The ghost showing up shows foreshadowing. The ghost indicates that something is wrong or is going to go wrong. Horatio even points out the uneasiness of the situation. He compared the events leading up to the assassination of Julius Caesar to the events happening in the story.

Horatio and Marcellus find Hamlet and asked him what happen. Hamlet made them swear to God and his sword that they would not tell anyone.
I think I would ask Hamlet why does he trust the ghost? How does he know that it 's not a demon pretending to be his father?
Act 2 Scene 1
The scene starts with Polonius and Reynaldo, Polonius servant, talking about spying on Laertes in Paris. Polonius sends Reynaldo to check on and ask around about Laertes. Ophelia comes in and tells Polonius about her encounter with Hamlet. Hamlet looked pale and fearful. Polonius dismisses it as love sickness and decides to tell the king about it.
It seems like Polonius doesn 't trust Laertes. Polonius seemed to be more concerned about family honor rather than his kids. It makes me wonder if he even trusts Ophelia.
Act 2 Scene 2
King Claudius and Gertrude has summoned Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to help Hamlet. They agree and exit. Polonius enters to tell the king that he knows the cause of Hamlet 's insanity and the ambassador has arrived from Norway. The king addresses the ambassadors
