In Chapter 11, he meets up with his brother, sister, and mother to find out that they have all been waiting for him. During this moment, a quote stands out and expresses every memory of this story, “When we had some time to ourselves, we all wept a lot, from happiness but also from the sadness of the time we’d lost.” It is extremely true when expressing that Saroo’s entire life story is just a bittersweet tale of a memoir. Going back to when he was five, he had his family in India, where he would starve and get a chance to see them on a daily basis. This memory is an engraved moment of bittersweet for Saroo; he was living in Australia where his adoptive family cared for him and supported any motive of his. Whereas, in India, his mother received the sad news of losing both of her children; one being killed and the other lost out in the world. However, she did not give up hope that Saroo would still be alive out there in the world and would return one day. Hope is the signal calling of this motive; Saroo’s mother did not lose hope for her lost son and to her unbelievable surprise he did in fact return. Moreover, Saroo did the same and never lost hope in searching for his home town; if it had not been for the release of Google Earth, this search would have taken further time and possibly given up
