During Psychology class I stood in front of the class to answer a question. Everyone that was paying attention had the opportunity to see what I was wearing. In the middle of class, I left the room and returned wearing a different outfit. Only the classmate sitting directly next to me noticed anything different. Others I talked to during class and those around me did not notice a thing. At the end of class told everyone what I had done and asked if they could remember what I was wearing. Some said my shirt changed but they could not recall the color. Others seemed convinced I switched backpacks when I hadn’t. Their brains never took note of what I was wearing because it didn’t really matter in this situation. In everyday life you will not be tested on what someone is wearing. But then again, what if it you were? As a criminal justice major I wonder if you witnessed a crime, could you be able to recall what the offender was wearing? Our eyes don’t lie, but how reliable is our brain and our memories? Even in less serious situations such as losing your mom or friend in a large store, as I have done many times, would you be able recall what they are wearing. Even after spending all day with them it is difficult to know the details of there outfit, simply because our eyes see but our brains don’t
