Society has always tried to enforce social control in the world. This constant hunt for control in society’s normative compliance has transitioned into the world of sports. Professional sports have been in our country for close to one hundred years; while various sports have progressed at their own pace, industrialization has progressed at even a faster rate. Some of America’s most loved sports such as basketball, football, and boxing have endured the test of stabilization during times of segregation. All of these sports are now integrated and are doing well financially, but the industry is still segregated by gender. The imaginary glass ceiling is far from a myth, yet society manages to cover the seriousness of the issue. Sports over the years have helped shed light on some of the inequalities females endure in their lifetimes, except on a much higher scale. Being a professional athlete is a common dream of youth all across the world, and regardless of economic class, most aspire to live the illustrious life of an athlete. The issue with feminism in the world is that it diminishes the dreams of the next generation.
