For example, the game series “Soul Caliber”, there is a female character named Ivy, an extremely sexy pirate, whose chest size keeps on increasing and clothes keeps on shrinking with every next game that comes out. Now, in my personal opinion, while this is all very attractive and the fact that she would be considered sexy by most men, the fact is that such a woman does not exist anywhere in the world; a woman with a perfectly slim frame and a massive chest like Ivy’s simply cannot realistically exist, and I feel that when men see her image, they view her more as a sexual object more than anything else and these views are carried with them into the real world. These men would expect more from real women, as in have a perfect figure and complexion which really puts pressure on women to try hard to be fit and some women would resort to surgically altering their bodies, like Anastasiya Shpagina who is known as the “Real-life Anime Girl”. This “over-sexualizing” of women enforce an incorrect view of how a real women is in the eyes of men which leads to false images of beauty and it are these views that create so many health related issues that are seen in women nowadays such as anorexia and bulimia. The greatest example of this would be Princess Peach from the “Mario” series. The whole Mario series is based on the adventures of a man who roams from castle to castle to rescue the kidnapped damsel in distress. The princess in the Mario series is portrayed as helpless and powerless to do anything against the series main antagonist, Bowser, who repeatedly kidnaps her. Mario was a game that I as a child used to play all the time and am an avid fan of the series and I feel that this would be the same for many other gamers. However, when I critically analyze these games and delve deeper into the roles of the characters, I begin to notice problems that these games cause, such as reinforcing negative stereotypes of women. Mario shows how a woman needs a man to protect and shelter her, implying that women are unable to provide and take care of themselves, which is a stereotype that damages the image of women in men’s eyes as it portrays women as
