Stories often use transformations in the characters to try and scare us, the readers. For example, in “Fall of the House of Usher,” The narrator transforms and becomes crazy as the story progresses. Transforming environments sometimes adds that extra ominous vibe to scary stories. For example, the Flood in photo 1 of the collection of the children's’ nightmares, the area around the little boys house is flooded and everything he knows is gone. A transformation like that could be terrifying for anyone. In the story Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the setting changes throughout the story.
