First of all, technology has been loyal to society because "Technology made large populations possible; large populations make technology indispensable" (Joseph Crutch). Obviously, the number of people on this earth has something to do with the technology we have here technology has made our earth how we know it today, and I love him so much medical progress possible. In addition, technology allows the information we need at our fingertips. "Estimates are that the big four (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook) store at least 1.2 petabytes between them" (Gareth Mitchell). Oh and this converts to 1.2 million terabytes, and 85,899,345 pages can fit on a single terabyte, so that's a lot of information online, just from four databases.
