People are constantly battling to be healthy while there is so much pressure placed in the decisions of what foods to eat. On one hand, health advocates encourage children to eat more produce and to try to do at least thirty minutes of physical activity a day; however children are constantly exposed to the convenience of junk food or even fast food (Alliance for a Healthier Generation,2015)..
Intersectionalities of Childhood Obesity in North Carolina Furthermore, delving into the epidemic, it was revealed that not only are children suffering from weight issues, but could possibly be a generation that lives shorted due to health complications associated with weight problems. In this state, children that happen to be throughout the ages of 10-17, 1 out of 3 is overweight or obese. In the ages of children between 2 and 4 who’s parents receive governmental assistance such as programs like Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); 32% are obese or overweight (CITE).
