Major Jack Eric recently graduated from the Command and General Staff College and was assigned to 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas. There were no available key development jobs, so he would spend the next six to eight months in the division G3 shop. He did not mind the time on division staff. He thought it would be a good opportunity to prepare for an S3 or XO job when one opened in the subordinate brigades. Starting September 2012, SFC Bell was responsible for overseeing up to 10 instructors and 50 students during each course and trained over 200 Soldiers during the period he was assigned to 1st BN. He took on the challenging position of course manager while at the same time continued participating as a primary certified instructor for the course. SFC Bell was essential to the overall success of his battalion. SPC Bonetpacheco achieved the XVIII Airborne Corps Noncommissioned Officer Basic Leader Course graduation requirements with an overall 91.84% grade point average. He successfully passed the APFT evaluation with a score of 219. He achieved Superior scores on Garrison Leadership, PRT, Oral History Brief, Individual training, and Drill & Ceremony. He scored 100% on the Training Exam, and Land Navigation. He used interpersonal tact to build trust, foster esprit-de-corps and created a positive workplace environment.…
As the Command Training Coordinator, he developed and planned a short and long range training plan that efficiently tracked all required Information Systems Technician certifications, general military training and in-rate topics. He directly trained, mentored, boarded and qualified seven Site Duty Officers and seven Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) users; a major contributor to the overall watch flexibility. Located off North Carolina’s coast in the Beaufort Inlet lies shipwreck 31CR314. The submerged wreck was first discovered by Intersal Inc. (a permitted private research firm) divers on November 21, 1996. Initially sighted were some of the ships multiple cannons, and anchors. Assuming command of the 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) is an honor and a privilege. BM1 Cuevas is a proactive young senior sailor in Port Operation that can lead from angle and consistently is able to lead his junior sailors in successful endeavors, encourages similar levels of excellence from his subordinates. On November 2nd I attended a presentation given by David Eubank, a former U.S Army Special Forces and Ranger Officer, and an alumnus of Texas A&M University. Currently, he is the director for the Free Burma Rangers (FBR), an organization that offers humanitarian aid to those in the Burma, Kurdistan, and Sudan war zone. While FBR has no religious or racial denomination, David himself is a Christian and believes that his being a follower of Jesus is what has led him to organizing FBR. David emphasized the importance of faith, love, and humility when providing aid to others. FBR has 3 rules for those wanting to join: the first is that, whatever one wants to do, they must do it with love in their heart.…

On October 13th I attended Professor Ezekiel's class to sit in on a guest speaker. The speaker, Dr. Laurent Njilla is a Research Electronic Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, NY. Dr. Njilla did not speak much of his professor as he had another objective in mind, speak about cyber security and the opportunities it presents. With only an hour to speak he quickly jumped into his PowerPoint with great enthusiasm for the topic at hand. As the Army reduces its personnel strength numbers to prewar levels, leaders at all echelons must understand that every Soldier assigned to their unit counts. The loss of Soldier’s is and will be the largest resourcing shortfall in the Army moving forward. The Army’s current personnel reduction from wartime highs to smaller prewar levels is a massive culture shock for many brigade and company commanders. Soldiers have undergone separation boards forcing them to be involuntarily separated. These boards are forcing the Army to separate quality Soldiers.…
