Some examples include their rituals and Beowulf's faith in God in the novel before he fought any monster he would state somehow “ God is with me if he wants me to defeat this monster I will”. Something not mentioned in the movie at all throughout the whole film in the book is a strong representation of Beowulf his belief in faith. Throughout the book Beowulf has an enormous amount of violence the Danes and Geat seemed to amend obstacles with violence verbally and physically. Some examples would be when Unferth confronted Beowulf on his swimming competition with Brecca he started an argument with a man who came to save him and his village. Unferth was used to causing confrontations because that's part of their culture thinking they're superior and more powerful than anyone.
