Our most indicative examples of this theory include Rosa Parks, and her refusal to give up her seat to a white man despite the laws of Jim Crow distinctively requiring that she do so; additionally, Muhammed Ali served as another example in his rejection of his military draft, despite the law mandating that any man drafted had an obligation to adhere. In reflecting on the cases of Rosa Parks and Mohammed Ali, it becomes clear the influence they had on modern society. Both Parks and Ali stood up for their beliefs, which set the precedent for later generations to be noncompliant with laws that may encourage segregation and forced military involvement. Instead of responding in a way that may be harmful to either party, peaceful resistance sticks to a belief that behaving in a civilized manner is the best way to go about any situation.
