Community policing programs have been around for years. It is said many of the current policing strategies used by agencies were influenced by community policing programs (Lab & Das 2003). Typically, programs were tested on larger areas to see if they showed any positive results, and overall there was a good turnout. Since this caught the attention of the government, smaller police agencies began to adopt community policing. Although community policing has been adopted by agencies all over the world the bigger question is how has it impacted large or small law enforcement agencies?

This is very important, because in order for the program to be effective the officer have to have proper education training to work with the general public (MacDonald, 2002).
Results
The finding is that smaller agencies have a higher rate of community policing. This is because there is a smaller population of people, more rural area (less urbanized areas), and lower crime rates. Based on results of the study large law enforcement agencies tend to have more urbanized areas which have higher crime rates. Many larger law enforcement agencies benefited from problem -solving partnership with civilians.
Discussion
Based on the findings of the regression model as proven before it does a better job predicting property and violent crime for larger agencies. This shows that crime is prevalent in more populated areas and more citizens are likely to report more crimes than in a smaller city. Typically, areas with high foot traffic, poverty, population density, and disrupted families are more likely to see a trend in crime (Sampson & Groves, 1989; Shaw & McKay, …show more content…
The article mentioned urbanized areas are mostly correlated with the research done while rural areas weren’t as severely affected. Crime is everywhere and to make a conclusive study apples and apples need to be compared. Factors like age, race, state, geographical area, etc. should be required to be collected for statistical purpose when trying to gather data on community policing. The research has gaps because its only in certain areas and can’t provide an accurate assumption on the over outlook of community policing around the world. As stated in the article community policing doesn’t have the same standard operating procedure in every agency. There should be a guide to each agency across the country to operate based upon to gather accurate assessment on how community policing effects crime reduction in smaller versus larger
