All of the Little Rock 9 students had to have a lot of courage and strength throughout their time at the high school. It all started in september 1957 when 9 black students enrolled in an all- white high school, Central High. Before then May 17, 1954, Brown vs. Board of Education declared segregation in schools unconstitutional. These little rock 9 students were basically a test to see if integration in schools would work. Although, on the first day of school Orval Faubus ordered the state national guard to block the students from coming into the school. Already this was a terrible time for the 9 students, but they powered through. The strongest theme in Warriors Don’t Cry is, all you need is a friend or a few kind souls to get you throughout the way because they can save you when you need help, and fight for you to give you hope in times of need.

It shows how they really cared for them to integrate into the high school successfully, and the NAACP worked hours and hours to devote their time to solving the case, and making things right. The NAACP overall was very generous in helping, and fighting for the rights of the Little Rock 9 Students, and it really let them see the light to surviving the year of integration.
The strongest theme in Warriors Don’t Cry is that friends and even people you not know very well, can help you, and help push for your rights. There were many kind people in Warriors Don’t Cry that helped Melba outlast her year in Central High. Just some of them were Link and Danny; these people really helped Melba come to her senses and tell herself to push through even more. Link and Danny were strong figures in her life that made her realise just how strong
