Like when Hercules went to Earth. There is usually a shadow or a trickster working against the hero. Hades was the evil one that tried to kill Hercules. Sometimes the hero will have supernatural aid, allies, or mentors to help them through their journey. Hercules had Pegasus as his sidekick, and Phil was his mentor that taught and trained him to become a hero. The heroes will face challenges or battles that will prepare them for their final battle. Hercules had to fight lots of bad guys. Fighting all those monsters is just preparing him for when he becomes a true hero. In the return phase the hero will have won his final battle. Hercules defeated the titans, and sacrificed his life to save Meg. Little did Hercules know that his act of sacrifice was how he finally proved himself a true hero. The hero will usually get some sort of reward, and then begin their victorious journey home. Hercules became a god, and is finally able to return to Olympus. After they get home, the hero will sometimes becomes the master of the two worlds. Hercules gave up being a god so he could live happily ever after with Meg on Earth.
