There are many Americans who do not have health insurance and this has risen significantly over the years. Those that are included in the uninsured category are: college students, chronically ill individuals, high school students, and poor individuals. Many individual are not able to maintain health insurance due to factors such as job loss and or high costs. Lack of health insurance is associated with reduced use of preventive services and medical treatment, particularly among racial/ethnic minorities.1 Coverage expansions resulting from implementation of health-care reform might reduce disparities in uninsured rates.1 According to the Congressional Budget Office, implementation of health-care reform legislation is expected to increase coverage to approximately 30 million persons who would otherwise have been uninsured in 2019.1 I do not believe that this health disparity will be eliminated but it’s likely that it may be reduced. Since there are many people who do not meet the requirements for Medicaid, some individuals may choose not to have health insurance at all. Reasons for this may include: taking too much money out of their pockets to pay for insurance and maintain their needs for survival. Some individuals does not see health insurance as a necessity in their life until something harmful to their health
