Arid regions are continuously in search for ways of supplying their populations with fresh and clean water therefore, similar projects would likely rise the quantity of the latter. In Bangladesh, for example, the local government is investing intensively on this technique as reported from the British Geological Survey (2001). Even though this could be beneficial to arid regions, the cost of the construction of relevant structures and of the process would be unquestionably large and more to the point it would also affect the environment and maybe jeopardize the habitat of endangered species.
