If for some reason families all of a sudden started trending back toward the families that were more prevalent 60 years ago it could have a negative effect on women’s rights. Because it has become a socially acceptable for women to take different roles in the family including having one on their own, a shift like that could make it unacceptable to have those different role. There is nothing wrong with being a homemaker, but there is also nothing wrong with being a businesswoman. If you start taking women out of the workforce and start putting them back into the household, problems would start to arise. Not only has society has grown accustomed to women being in the workforce, it is almost expected for women to fill certain professions. Being in the workforce has allowed women to provide for themselves and their family while giving them self-worth. If they were to go back into the household, the strides that women have made in the workplace would slowly disappear. This loss can cause financial and emotional problems since they will have to rely on a husband to provide, which would further give the male more dominance over the women.
Also positive is the trend of diverse families. Living in a society where families are diverse helps people become well-rounded. Promoting a society that understands others, and has an openness to other cultures. When cultural relativism is the norm in a society there is still a sense of solidarity. It could also bring the crime rate down because we would see less things as deviant, like interracial or same sex marriage, and therefor people would not be breaking the law or having un-fair stigmas attached to
