Alarmingly, El Salvador is the most dangerous and gang filled country in the world. El Salvador’s menacing nickname is the murder capitol of the world. It’s also the most densely populated.
The gangs have declared war with the police and with other civilians who have not joined their ranks. Most gang members have a family at home who are forced to go into hiding. In order to survive, the women and children remain awake throughout the night to protect themselves from dangers of rival gangs, while the men are out killing others themselves. No one really knows for sure what goes on inside of a gang members home, but they have proven for sure that the children are often raped by their own fathers, and other members of the gang. …show more content…
The government tried to gain better control of the situation. Sadly, this effort backfired and resulted in even more murders, when the gangs declared war on the police.
In 2014, the State Department of the United States created a program for minors in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. This program allowed them to apply in their home country to be refugees in the United States and to avoid the dangerous journey through Mexico. In November, 5,100 of the nearly 6,000 applications came from El Salvador. And only 16 of them were approved.
There are many practiced religions in El Salvador. The most common religions are Roman Catholic, Protestant, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Voodoo, and Mormon. Only 16.8% of people there have no religion at all. El Salvador is sadly a very rare place to find Christians. The vast majority of Christians you will find are missionaries, which is rare because of the danger.
As sad as it is, El Salvador is filled with gangs, murders, and false religions. But we luckily have good christian people who risk their lives to tell others about Christ, and people like policemen trying to take control of the gang
