Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. It comes in several different forms. Such as ad hominem, repetition, appeal to authority, appeal to fear, appeal to prejudice, bandwagon, and the common man. There are several different types used in Animal Farm. Here are some examples.
The first sign of propaganda was Old Major’s. He was making a speech about the rebellion, they needed to plan to overthrow the common man, human kind. His speech is what triggered everything. His speech is what got rules of Animalism started. This relates to overthrowing common man in the real word. He gave them a song that they would sing at the beginning of the rebellion, Beasts of England(Orwell). It became the anthem of the Animal Farm, much like “Heil Hitler” (AAH) during communist times. Which was something you would say if you were not disrespectful, if a person didn’t do heil him in the real world they would be punished. It was sort of a greeting. An example of a slogan is “JUST DO IT,”(RCS). That is the Nike slogan which is known by basically everyone. Another is “I’m Lovin’ It,” (RCS). That is the international slogan for McDonald’s. Lastly the slogan “America Runs on Dunkin,” (RCS). Which is the slogan for Dunkin’ Donuts. These are all types of repetition propaganda, they are things that are said over and over and over. These are things that get stuck in your head, kind of like the Charter Spectrum commercials “Charter Spectrum Internet just 29.99 call 1855-255-2999!” That is the one that gets stuck in heads a lot, just like Beasts of England gets stuck in the heads of the sheep, that is another thing that is repeated throughout the
