Subject: Daniel Goleman on Emotional Intelligence
Daniel Goleman addressed Google on his book Social Intelligence: The New Science of Human Relationships. He argues about the fact that emotional intelligence is very important in life. Emotional intelligence is in fact so important that most of the best companies actually hire people on the basis of their emotional intelligence. The people with vey high IQs actually have high emotional intelligence.
Daniel Goleman drew a comparison of IQ and emotional intelligence. The comparison gives us a scatterplot, top companies like Google takes the best of the best from this scatterplot. When we see the scatterplot we can see that the IQ is given a small variation while emotional intelligence is given a larger one. This means that most of the top companies have the same level of intelligence, but the one part where they all differ I sin emotional intelligence. Firstly, the drive to achieve is the most important feature one should have. Most of the best leaders have a lot of drive to achieve. They challenge themselves and reach all their expectations. Secondly, they can hold good arguments and can hold their place in a debate. Thirdly, they can make quick connections and see patterns. This makes work much easier for them and they can accomplish way more. Fourthly, they have good analytical skills.
